Welcome to our Home Page !

Hi there and welcome to our site.  This page will give you a brief outline of what we are all about.  Please take a moment to browse around the other pages of our site!

History:  The Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of Canada was the product of one man's dream. On February 20, 1920, Hal Rogers' dream became a reality and a vision for the future.  Today we are an all-Canadian service group providing service dollars in excess of $21,000,000 a year to the communities of Canada.  Our Motto is "Serving the Community's Greatest Need".

We are located in Zone 2, District 7.  District 7 takes in all of the Atlantic Provinces.  Zone 2 covers Metro Halifax, the South Shore, and Valley.  The Kinette Club of Kentville encompasses Kentville, New Minas, Greenwich and outlying areas.  Within Zone 2 we have other Kinsmen (men), Kinette (women), Kin (co-ed) Clubs in Halifax, Dartmouth, Sackville, Wilmot, Bridgewater, Liverpool and Shelburne.

There was an earlier Kinette Club here but it folded in the middle 80's.  In 1990, the Kinsmen President received a phone call from a very persistent Deputy Governor (Zone Kinette Co-ordinator), Babs Malay and after a lot of calls and many planning meetings,  the charter papers were signed by June and the official charter night was held in September.  Mark and Vickie Michon were instrumental in the chartering of this club, giving it wings to soar high.

A tenth Anniversary Celebration took place in 2001 at which time the Kinette Club of Kentville made a Time Capsule to be opened at their 25th Anniversary!  Each member of the Club placed an article in the capsule.  It will be a lot of fun to be there to open the capsule in 15 years time!

Projects:  We raise funds in a variety of ways.  We do a joint Christmas Miracle Project in November with the Kinsmen which brings in close to $20,000 and provides Christmas for needy children in the area.  You also might find us holding a dance, doing a strawberry supper, selling sandwiches and sweets at bingo and do some catering.

Meetings:  Our meetings are held once a month at the Greenwich Fire Hall.  We meet on the second Monday of the month.  If you would like to join us, send an email to the address below and a member will get back to you as soon as possible.  If you would like to find out what we are all about, drop by the hall on the second Monday of the month and we will be pleased to show you.  Or if you would like to come help out with a project, we would sure appreciate your help!  Our meetings are educational and fun because after all being a volunteer should be fun!

Personal Growth and Friendships:  If you are looking for an opportunity to give back to your community, expand your horizons, learn, grow, make friends and have fun doing it, then Kin is for you!  Click on the email address below if you are interested in finding more about our club or organization.

Please enjoy your stay, browse around, and if you have any questions, don't forget to click on the email address and someone will get back to you as soon as possible!

Thanks for dropping by and have a Great Day!
